Manny Pacquiao

Boxing, fistfighting sport between two matched combatants wearing padded gloves. A boxer’s primary aim is to land as many blows as possible to the head and torso of the opponent, using strength and speed to dominate the contest. One of the oldest sports still practiced, boxing dates back thousands of years. Today the sport is popular in many parts of the world and encompasses both amateur and professional matches.

Manny Pacquiao,a boxer from the Philippines, is considered one of the greatest boxers of all time with his seemingly indestructible winning streak from 2008 to present. He is currently holding seven weight divisions, a record so far for any boxer to hold different weight divisions. He made his break in the eyes of the public with his defeat of the Mexican Marco Antonio Barrera and his win with Juan Manuel Marquez. It even skyrocketed to greater heights upon his destruction of the face of Golden Boy dela Hoya. Since then, many challengers came and all proved weak in the face of Pacquiao’s equally destructive rights and lefts. Furthermore, Pacquiao is essentially a southpaw boxer but his right is not a punch to be taken light of. His stance created an uncomfortable defensive stance, from the challenger’s point of view, and his offense is just as equally dangerous. He plowed through Ricky Hatton with a knock-out. Clottey tried an ultradefensive plan but only ended up being Pacquiao’s punching bag. His speed enables him to weave in and out without a problem and his power enables him to slug it out if the need arose. However, slugfest with the Filipino champion is like having a death wish. Just as Hatton experienced by trying to befuddle Pacquiao with blitz slugging but was countered with smooth hooks that KO’ed him at Round 2.
