The Maxxum 5D from Konica Minolta Photo Imaging U.S.A., Inc. is a high-performance interchangeable-lens digital SLR camera that succeeds to the revolutionary technology of its predecessor the Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D. It is the world’s first digital SLR that is equipped with a built-in Anti-Shake Performance, an award-winning technology selected as “European Photo Innovation of the Year 2004 – 2005” by EISA. This anti-shake technology reduces blur caused by camera shake, even when taking photos in dimly lit or twilight scenes, in natural light with a telephoto lens, as well as macro shots. It has a CCD Shift mechanism that is compatible with all Maxxum system lenses including Konica Minolta’s upcoming line of Digital Technology “DT” lenses. The Maxxum 5D comes with a big, bright 2.5-inch LCD with Navigation Display for camera settings. It comes with a high-performance, bright and clear optical viewfinder displays and has a durable, compact body.

The Maxxum 5D possesses an advanced LSI (image processing engine) and CxProcess™ III technology designed to provide stunning, natural-looking images. This CxProcess™ III image processing technology helps optimize four essential elements: sharpness to take full advantage of the advanced optical technologies incorporated into the lens; color reproduction to make sure that colors are rendered just as the human eye perceives them; gradation reproduction to deliver clearness and deep presentation of gradations for both shadows and highlights, and Noise reduction to achieve a natural, impressive presentation of textured images. The camera is equipped with a comprehensive image adjustment and creative control like the Digital Subject Program Selector, that offers photographers convenient options like portrait, sports, landscape, evening sunset view, and night view. Also, a Digital Effect Control that enables users to select an option among ten scene types, edit the parameters to their preferences, and then store the settings. Likewise, it has a Color temperature setting in addition to AWB, PWB and, custom white balance. It is likewise capable of easy and intuitive operation with its high-speed AF and can capture up to 30 frames at a speed of approximately 3 fps.
