| Sprint launches the world’s first 3G / 4G Android handset, the HTC EVO 4G mobile phone. It offers simultaneous voice and data connectivity and has a download speed of up to 10 times faster than 3G. It is powered by the Android 2.1 operating system with deep integration of Google services and access to thousands of applications to customize the phone through the Android Market. Android 2.1 allows a new way to search with pictures instead of words. Google Goggles™ works with everything from books, DVDs and barcodes to landmarks, logos, artwork and even wine labels. It features 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor that speeds up playing games, watching shows and opening files from work. It also features an integrated Google technology that allows one-touch access to popular Google Mobile services including access to both personal and corporate emails, calendars, and contacts supported by Exchange Server and Gmail. It is integrated with an updated HTC Sense, a user interface overlay from HTC that makes it easy to create an individualized mobile experience modified specifically to one’s needs.
HTC EVO 4G features a built-in voice-to-text technology for text messaging and email composition. With just a press on the microphone button on the screen, messages can be composed by just speaking. The HTC EVO 4G features a large, vibrant 4.3 inch display with pinch-to-zoom and tactile feedback. It comes with a built-in kickstand for easy viewing of videos, TV programs or HD movies captured on its huge 8-megapixel auto-focus camera with LED flash. It is also equipped with a forward-facing 1.3 megapixel camera makes it easy to make video calls using the two-way voice and video service from Qik. To enjoy the benefits of 4G speed, HTC EVO 4G is equipped with a built-in mobile hotspot functionality that allows up to eight Wi-Fi-enabled devices including laptop, camera, music player, video player and any other Wi-Fi-enabled devices. It also comes with microSD memory expansion (8 GB card included; optional 32 GB cards supported), Adobe Flash support, HDMI audio/video output. It has battery life that lasts up to 6 hours.
