The Apple Mac Mini MC438LL/A measures only 7.7 (W) x 7.7 (D) x 1.4 (H) inches and weighs approximately 2.8 pounds only. Notwithstanding its size, it is basically a desktop computer. The Apple Mac Mini MC438LL/A desktop is pre-loaded with Apple’s Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Server operating system that provides 64-bit power and up to twice as fast as its predecessor. It is likewise equipped with Wi-Fi wireless networking (based on 802.11n specification; 802.11a/b/g compatible), Ethernet, built-in bluetooth 2.1 + EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) , 4 USB 2.0 ports for connecting a wide range of peripherals, a FireWire 800 port, HDMI, Mini DisplayPort, and SD card slot connectivity.

It comes in a 1.4-inch-thin aluminum enclosure called the unibody ( originally developed for Apple’s MacBook Pro ) which was carved seamlessly from a single, solid block of aluminum. To ensure complete precision of its individual components, it is created using computer numerical control, or CNC, machines just like what is being used by the aerospace industry in building spacecraft components.

It is considered as environment friendly and one of the world's most energy-efficient desktop computer because its power supply requires merely 85W not to mention that only less than 10 watts of power is utilized when it is idle. In fact, it meets the stringent low power requirements set by the EPA, awarding it ENERGY STAR qualification.
